Temptation is back in fashion
New York Fashion Week showed the dominance of trouser suits – next fall, loose and formal trousers, double-breasted blazers with rows of buttons will become the main fashion artifacts. However, this spring, fashion is more frivolous than ever and discouragingly bold. When models in extremely short skirts, as if cut with tailor’s scissors, took to the catwalk at the spring Miu Miu show, many might think: “Perhaps this is already too much!”
However, the wave of popularity of the microskirt has only increased. The loud return of the mini length seems to inform us of the approach of a carefree summer mood. Ultra-short models of skirts appeared even where they were not expected to be seen at all: at Giorgio Armani, Christian Dior, Carolina Herrera and Missoni.
Futuristic variations of images with microskirts were successful for Olivier Rousteing in Balmain and Nicolas Di Felice in Courrèges. Spectacular minimalist models are worth looking for at Emilio Pucci. Designers tacitly declared the short skirt a basic element of the spring-summer wardrobe and offered to wear it with soft sweaters, elegant tops, leather jackets and bright shirts. This becomes a very meaningful feminist statement about the right to wear the things you want, the way you want. The length of a skirt is not measured by morality or security in an ideal future in which there is no “too much”, and fashion is directed towards this future.
