Stay at home
If there is such an opportunity, it is better to spend more time at home and not take risks: staying under direct sunlight during the day is dangerous due to heatstroke and dehydration.
Drink water
When you go out (especially during the day), carry a bottle of water with you so that you can take a sip at any moment, rinse your face, or even help someone who needs water.
Let’s lighten the diet
On hot days, food should fill the body with energy and useful compounds and trace elements. So it’s time to switch to a light vegan diet: the season of vegetables and fruits is a direct invitation to such a step.
Buy a fan
Fresh air can really save you from the heat. So, in order not to grind in a stuffy room (for example, at the post office in line for a stamp), use the weapon of fashion insiders – wave a fan. Anna Wintour does not shy away from this technique. And in general, the front row at fashion shows is a solid wave generator.
If outside, then in the shade
On particularly hot summer days, it is better not to be outside between ten in the morning and four in the evening. Otherwise, move on the side of the street where there is more shade. A hat, light fabric clothing that protects the arms, neck and legs, sunglasses and a water bottle in hand (yes, that again) will help you survive the hottest days.
Cool the sheet
Place the sheet in the freezer for 10 minutes. This simple trick helps create the illusion of coolness. It is ideal if your sheet is made of natural silk in the summer. Artificial materials are not desirable: they create a greenhouse effect.
Cool down outside
A cool or barely warm shower is a great idea for the heat. Literally a minute under the jets of water will bring the desired relief.
Use foot products with cooling ingredients, such as menthol. It “deceives” the cold receptors, connects with them and creates a feeling of cold. The receptors are easily fooled, so they send the same stimuli as when coming into contact with cold water – they narrow large vessels and quickly transfer excess blood into the capillary network, ensuring active circulation in the freezing zone, – explains the doctor-dermatocosmetologist, an expert in the development of cosmetic products means, founder of the professional cosmetics brand
Adjust your skin care
It is better not to use the usual saturated creams in the heat, but to switch to lighter essences and serums. This technique is actively used by residents of Japan and Korea, where the level of humidity is much higher, and their skin remains matte in the same way.
In the summer, care with acids is more important than ever: under the influence of the sun, the stratum corneum thickens, as a result of which the skin can have a dull appearance. It is important to remember: the use of acids or retinol in the summer is allowed only for those who apply sunscreen according to all the rules.
Don’t forget about protection
Keep sunscreens close at hand: in the car, in your bag, on your desk. Means with zinc oxide and titanium oxide have an immediate effect; means with chemical filters must be given time to be absorbed so that they begin to have an effect. Important: sunscreens leave ugly yellow stains on clothes, so they should be used carefully. Find products in the most convenient bottles here. We have collected sunscreen products in the form of sprays here.
Use the air conditioner correctly
You should not set the temperature to a minimum: it causes discomfort and gives a sharp contrast when compared to a hot street. You can fix the temperature at an acceptable 23 °C — and enjoy the coolness. Those who are cold should put on a jacket or scarf. You should also not try to keep the air cold as long as possible when the air conditioner is turned off. It is necessary to periodically ventilate the room.
Humidify the air
You can use special moisturizers. The best for the heat are those that form a fine mist.
There are miniature portable humidifiers that work even from a USB laptop.
