With the off-season coming soon, it’s time to start looking at versatile and practical gabardine coats that are simply made for the weather. In the new season, designers, in addition to classic beige and caramel trench coats, offer to choose new designs: raincoats with an asymmetrical hem or without sleeves, leather trenches, hyper-volume models, options with several shades of gabardine or different fabrics. We took a look at the collections of fall-winter 2022/2023 brands and collected the most fashionable trench coats.
Bulky
A trench coat is a basic outerwear for the fall period. It will perfectly cope with gusts of wind and protect against unexpected rain. This fall, we suggest betting on voluminous raincoats, with which it is easy to play with layers. In the Rejina Pyo collection, you’ll find a loose-fitting beige version, in Sacai you’ll find a voluminous A-line trench coat, and in Khaite you’ll find an unusual version in suede.
Combined
A mix of different shades and textures is one of the favorite stylistic techniques of designers. This season, brands decided to experiment with outerwear and showed combined trench coats in their own collections. So, 3.1 Philipp Lim used contrasting shades of gabardine, Lemaire combined white and black leather, and Burberry, in addition to its classic signature beige raincoats with a checkered lining, offered a modern version combining several types of fabrics.
Leather
Leather items continue to occupy the top lines in the lists of fashion trends this season. So, in addition to leather jackets, bomber jackets, trouser and skirt suits, designers suggest choosing leather trench coats. Due to the density of the material, such outerwear is unlikely to be useful to you at the beginning of autumn, but its prime time will come in October or November. And that’s when you dare to wear The Row’s brown trench coat, Gabriela Hearst’s salted caramel trench coat, or the hot pink Prada version in the style of lawyer Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.
Deconstruction
Nowadays, you won’t surprise anyone with a classic trench coat, but an unusual model with a bold neckline or an asymmetrical cut is quite possible. Yes, trench coats with deconstruction are beautiful not only because of their non-banal design, which greedily attracts the attention of those around them, but also because of the opportunity not to think about accessories, because the main attention will equally go to outerwear. This fall-winter 2022/2023 season, Acne Studios has offered a sleeveless trench coat or a trench vest – a similar coat option will come in handy at the beginning of autumn. Meanwhile, Alexander McQueen declared their love for an asymmetric cut that combines several shades of gabardine at once, and Coperni bet on a provocative trench coat with open sides that the most daring fashionistas can afford.
