When we look at Beyoncé and Oprah Winfrey, we invariably ask ourselves: “How do they do it?”.
It’s all about planning. If you properly organize yourself and your team, leave time for self-care and learn how to properly allocate time, you will achieve real success. Let’s learn from the best!
Michelle Obama
During her tenure at the White House, former First Lady Michelle Obama had a strict schedule. Not only did she have to deal with a ton of job responsibilities, she also found time for personal initiatives and hobbies. To keep everything working, she first filled the calendar with personal matters, and then with everything else.
Every year, before ordering something, agreeing to any meeting or conference, we sat down with our assistant and looked first of all at what would happen in our personal lives. We entered dinners, dates, gym sessions and vacations in the graphs. And only then, when we planned it, we started solving work problems.
Take a notepad and calendar, mark the dates that you want to “free” from work, such as friends’ birthdays, holidays, vacations, etc., and thus make your plan for the year. Remember that you come first and everything else comes second.
We let the work rule us. It’s time to prioritize things that will put your life first and work a little further down the list.
Oprah Winfrey
The perfect day for Oprah is meditation, nature walks and workouts. And although the TV presenter has to devote part of her time to work, she does it wisely.
I try to do all my work in the morning, and devote the rest of the time to myself … Since I grew up in a poor family, I have a fad: I do not trust my financial matters to anyone but myself. I need to know how much I spend on electricity, how much I get. I don’t want to be the kind of person who entrusts his money to someone else and then wonders how much he got or didn’t get. It takes me two hours to sort things out.
We, of course, dream of a fairy godmother who will take care of everything, and we will only have to do what we love, but this does not happen. Be ready to take responsibility for your life – this will help to avoid many troubles.
Emma Watson
You’ve probably heard that Emma Watson is a real bookworm. Paparazzi now and then catch her not in boutiques, but in second-hand bookshops, and before an interview, she often sits up in a coffee shop for her favorite novel. By the way, the actress reads not only feminist literature (“Running with Wolves: The Female Archetype in Myths and Legends” and “Vagina Monologues”), but also books about self-improvement.
I am a lover of everything that promises to change my life. You can’t expect to organize your entire life and become the best version of yourself if you don’t know where to start. If you don’t know what positive changes you should make in your life.
Emma reads avidly and searches the literature for answers to her questions that will help her change her life in the future. So start your planning journey by studying the equipment, and only then get into practice. You don’t know which self-development book will be the one that will turn your mind around.
